MINUTES – POCONO MOUNTAIN ARTS COUNCIL, MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP MEETING
Thursday, February 4, 2010 – 7:00 AM – Wills Mansion
Present: Fran and Dan Ferguson, Myra Trumpaitzky, Catherine Schratt, Jay and MaryAnn Paulukonis, Donna J. Israel, Barbara Case, Dee Kasarda, Steve Kager, Iene Bartz, Pat Transue, Pat Baker, Joanne Bridgeman, Pia and John Somerlock, Elizabeth Tokarcsik, Mitsu Walters, Jewell Woods
Fran called the meeting to order, led us in the salute to the flag, and welcomed Pia and John Somerlock, Elizabeth Tokarcsik, and Jewell Woods – all new to the group.
(Jewell is a returning member !)
Pat Transue was our guest speaker. She put forward some ideas we might do as a group to have some fun and learn and exchange ideas together.
All of these ideas were greeted with a great deal of enthusiasm, and Pat will work on getting some of them underway.
Pat is also taking over the maintenance work on our website.
Dan made a motion to accept the minutes as submitted, and Jay seconded the motion, which passed.
Dan gave the treasurer’s report. In January, we had $151.75 in income and $530.25 in expenses. Total funds on hand at this time are $30,486.65. He also reviewed 2009, which yielded us a profit of 44331.55 and told us that he is estimating $4000 profit for 2010’s budget year. Steve made a motion to accept his report, and Myra seconded the motion, which passed.
We had a discussion about the date of the Edelweiss show, and, by vote, agreed to hold it form 10 AM to 4 PM on Sunday, July 4th.
Fran announced
1) Trish Lippert’s show at Stroudsmoor from Jan 21 thru March 21, with reception on Friday, Feb 5 from6:30-8:30.
2) And also that Bill Hobbs has a show at Chant Realty in Lords Valley with a reception on Friday Feb 5 evening.
3) And that the Artifacts should be out shortly with the deadline for the next publication as April 30.
She reviewed the events listed on the back of the Agenda, and also requested some help at Advanced Radiology on Monday, Feb 8 at 2:30 for a short period of time, to help hang the art exhibit for the Children’s Art Show.
Pat Transue announced that Barbara Case will be heading up the Rotating Gallery, and that Silver Arrow will no longer be part of that system. She asked members to be on the lookout for other good rotating gallery locations. She told us that Pocono Country Place is temporarily suspending their participation in the rotating gallery, and asked those who are scheduled for PCP in April to check with her or Barbara before bringing their pieces to the location.
She also announced that the “Meet and Greet” at Lake Naomi – open to those who have exhibited in the rotating gallerty there in the past – has been scheduled for May 22, with a rain date of May 23.
The updated PMAC brochures will be distributed at the March meeting.
Catherine Schratt talked about two events were are working on for May –
1) The May 8 art exhibit at NCC-Monroe Campus with several of our members doing demonstrations,
2) the May 5 art auction we are working on with Pocono Arts Council as a benefit to the new NCC Monroe Campus…..More details on this will be out to our members shortly.
Barbara Case reminded everyone that we have a lending library, which she brings to each meeting.
This month’s raffle winner was one of our new member, Elizabeth.. The prize was a gift certificate to The Olive Garden.
Barbara moved to adjourn; it was seconded by Jay and passed.
