Many of the recipes are based on historic ones! (You can find many of our Harvest Festival classics in our Quiet Valley Cook Book.)\u00a0 Food can be found around the farm.\u00a0Some of our favorites include: BBQ chicken, baked potatoes, vegetarian vegetable soup, chicken corn chowder, sausage sandwiches,\u00a0all-beef hot dogs, apple dumplings, corn fritters, funnel cakes, griddle cookies, bread (baked in the bake oven), homemade desserts, and much more! Beverages include water, birch beer, cider, and coffee.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-toggle-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-title-2064\" class=\"elementor-tab-title\" data-tab=\"4\" role=\"button\" aria-controls=\"elementor-tab-content-2064\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-icon elementor-toggle-icon-left\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-icon-closed\"><i class=\"fas fa-plus\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-icon-opened\"><i class=\"elementor-toggle-icon-opened fas fa-minus\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a class=\"elementor-toggle-title\" tabindex=\"0\">What are the Festival Activities <\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-content-2064\" class=\"elementor-tab-content elementor-clearfix\" data-tab=\"4\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-2064\"><p>Each year for Harvest Festival we select a theme that falls in line with our mission as a living history museum and corresponding presentations are developed.<\/p><p><strong>Traditional skills demonstrations<\/strong>\u00a0such as spinning and weaving, cooking in Dutch ovens, rye straw crafts, apple butter making, candle dipping and many more take place across the farm. Horse and wagon rides and pony rides are also available for a small fee.<\/p><p><strong>Interactive program in the 1893 one-room schoolhouse<\/strong>.\u00a0 Everyone is welcome to attend, but even adults are considered school students in this program, so you best pay attention before the Schoolmarm makes an example of you.<\/p><p><strong>Children\u2019s Heritage<\/strong>\u00a0area for the K-4th set with various crafts and activities, for the little ones there\u2019s a Pumpkin Patch for pumpkin decorating, and Children\u2019s Games for all the young folk.<\/p><p><strong>Everlastings- <\/strong>halo headbands, bunches and baskets are made with our very own dried flowers.\u00a0In addition, the God\u2019s Half Acre stand sells our own handmade jellies, jams, pickles, and farm fresh produce.<\/p><p><strong>Our Gift Shop and our Trading Post<\/strong>\u00a0feature wonderful handmade items made by our craftsman.\u00a0<\/p><p><em>Please note that regular tours of house and cabin are not conducted during the Festival.<\/em><\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-toggle-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-title-2065\" class=\"elementor-tab-title\" data-tab=\"5\" role=\"button\" aria-controls=\"elementor-tab-content-2065\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-icon elementor-toggle-icon-left\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-icon-closed\"><i class=\"fas fa-plus\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-icon-opened\"><i class=\"elementor-toggle-icon-opened fas fa-minus\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a class=\"elementor-toggle-title\" tabindex=\"0\">Walkers and Wheelchairs.<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-content-2065\" class=\"elementor-tab-content elementor-clearfix\" data-tab=\"5\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-2065\"><p>The Harvest Festival takes place outdoors, rain or shine. The paths are paved with gravel or flagstones, so we recommend sturdy closed-toe shoes for your visit. Guests with mobility issues are encouraged to bring a cane or walker. Seating is scattered across the farm. Wheelchairs are accessible to most areas. We suggest wearing closed-toe shoes since this is a farm. For the safety of your pet, only service animals are permitted on the farm.
