Position Summary<\/b><\/p>\n

The Education Programs Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering high-quality educational programming that supports the mission of Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm. This position focuses on the development and implementation of school, youth, and adult education programs rooted in 19th-century Pennsylvania farm life. The Education Programs Coordinator ensures programs are engaging, age-appropriate, historically accurate, and aligned with educational standards, while collaborating closely with interpretation and events staff.<\/span><\/p>\n

This role is program-focused rather than daily visitor-operations focused and emphasizes curriculum development, scheduling, instruction, and evaluation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities<\/b><\/p>\n

Program Planning & Curriculum Development<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Plan, develop, and oversee educational programs for a variety of audiences, including school groups, homeschool groups, preschool-aged children, camps, and adult learners.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Plan and coordinate seasonal camp programs (winter and summer).<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Plan and teach the Preschool Program for children ages 2\u20136<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Develop lifelong learning classes and workshops for adults focused on history, heritage skills, and traditional crafts.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Ensure all educational content reflects accurate 19th-century history and aligns with Quiet Valley\u2019s interpretive goals.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Assist with planning and implementation of major and minor events.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Program Implementation & Instruction<\/span><\/p>\n

      \n
    • Teach and facilitate educational programs, workshops, and classes as assigned.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Adapt instructional approaches to meet the needs of diverse age groups, learning styles, and abilities.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Collaborate with the Interpretation & Visitor Experience Coordinator to ensure educational programs are appropriately staffed and supported.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Provide program-specific guidance and training to instructors, interpreters, and volunteers supporting education programs.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Scheduling, Coordination & Communication<\/span><\/p>\n

        \n
      • Develop and manage education program schedules and calendars.<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Coordinate registrations, materials, and logistics for educational programs.<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Communicate clearly and professionally with internal staff and external partners regarding program expectations and details.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Evaluation & Continuous Improvement<\/span><\/p>\n

          \n
        • Collect and review feedback from participants<\/span><\/li>\n
        • Track attendance and participation data for education programs.<\/span><\/li>\n
        • Use evaluation data to refine curriculum, teaching strategies, and program offerings.<\/span><\/li>\n
        • Assist the Director of Education with program reporting and planning.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          General Responsibilities<\/span><\/p>\n

            \n
          • Represent Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm in a professional, respectful, and welcoming manner.<\/span><\/li>\n
          • Support Quiet Valley\u2019s mission, policies, and procedures as outlined in the staff handbook.<\/span><\/li>\n
          • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and planning sessions as required.<\/span><\/li>\n
          • Wear period-appropriate attire when teaching or assisting with on-site programs, as required.<\/span><\/li>\n
          • Follow all safety and emergency procedures.<\/span><\/li>\n
          • Perform other related duties as assigned to support educational operations.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            Qualifications<\/b><\/p>\n

              \n
            • Bachelor\u2019s degree in Education, History, Museum Studies, Public History, or a related field preferred.<\/span><\/li>\n
            • Experience developing or delivering educational programs for children and\/or adults in formal or informal learning environments.<\/span><\/li>\n
            • Experience working with school-aged children and group instruction.<\/span><\/li>\n
            • Strong organizational, communication, and curriculum-planning skills.<\/span><\/li>\n
            • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, 19th-century history, agricultural history, and traditional skills.<\/span><\/li>\n
            • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and community partners.<\/span><\/li>\n
            • Ability to pass required child abuse and criminal background checks.<\/span><\/li>\n
            • Valid driver\u2019s license with a clear driving record, if applicable.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              Working Conditions & Schedule<\/b><\/p>\n

                \n
              • This is a seasonal, part-time position.<\/span><\/li>\n
              • Typical hours range from 15\u201320 hours per week during slower seasons and 30\u201335 hours per week during peak program seasons.<\/span><\/li>\n
              • Some weekend work may be required based on program needs.<\/span><\/li>\n
              • Work includes a combination of office-based planning and on-site instruction.<\/span><\/li>\n
              • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions when programs are held on the farm.<\/span><\/li>\n
              • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed for program setup and materials.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
